Nāgavarman was a poet from Vengi, in Andhra, who became associated with Rakkasa, a military leader (and later king) of the Western Gangas, who ruled in what is now Southern Karnataka. He is the author of the extant Chandōmbudhi, a metrical handbook in Kannada, as well as a number of works that do not survive, including a Kannada version of Bāṇa’s Kādambarī.
