Prakāśavarṣa

Person
ID: 96589
Full name: Prakāśavarṣa
Gender: Male
Year of birth: 850 c.
Year of death: 950 c.

Prakāśavarṣa was the teacher of the famous commentator Vallabhadeva, and with his commentary on the Kirātārjunīya, he is one of the earliest authors known to have written a commentary on a kāvya text. Several of his verses are quoted in literary anthologies. He is also the author of a work on poetics called Rasārṇava, or Rasārṇavālaṃkāra, although this work has been shown to be very close to Bhoja’s Sarasvatīkaṇṭhābharaṇa (11th c.), and it is not clear if the Rasārṇava is by the same author.
