Gary Tubb was educated at Harvard University (AB, AM, PhD degrees in Sanskrit and Indian Studies) and in India, and has taught primarily at Harvard, Columbia, and now at the University of Chicago, where he is Anupama and Guru Ramakrishnan Professor and currently Chair of the Department of South Asian Languages and Civilizations and Faculty Director of the University of Chicago Center in Delhi. He has worked on Sanskrit poetry and poetics, Indian epics and philosophy, and Sanskrit commentarial techniques.
