ID: 96338
Full name: Rāghavānanda
Gender: Male
Year of birth: 1500 c.
Rāghavānanda is said to have been born in coastal Malabar in the town of Thirunavaya, a place with an old Mukunda temple that is known in Tamil Vaiṣṇava literature. He was trained in classical Advaita Vedānta, non-dual Śaivism, and the Śrīvidyā tradition of Śākta Tantra. His major work was a commentary on the Bhāgavata Purāṇa called the Kṛṣṇapadī. He also wrote commentaries on two Vaiṣṇava hymns - the Mukundamālā and the Viṣṇubhujaṅgaprayāta Stotra - as well as one on the Śākta stotra Laghustuti. It is possible he knew Pūrṇasarasvatī, the Śaiva commentator on several kāvyas. They both frequented the Vadakkunathan temple at Thrissur and the Trichambaram Krishna temple in Taḷipparamba in northern Kerala.
