Of the fourth Vijāyanagara dynasty, the Āravīḍus, since the first Veṅkaṭa I (fl. 1542) was murdered while still a child. He was noted for his patronage of Telugu poets and Vaiṣṇava authors. He seems to have moved his capital to Candragirī, near Tirupati.
