ID: 96708
Full name: Amṛtataraṅgiṇī
Author: Lakṣmīdhara
Year: 1400 c.
Language: Sanskrit
Discipline: Advaita Vedānta
Genre: Commentary

The Amṛtataraṅgiṇī is the title of Lakṣmīdhara's commentary on the Bhāgavata Purāṇa. Although a close contemporary of Śrīdhara Svāmin, and likely also a native of Orissa, Lakṣmīdhara appears to betray no awareness of this other, more famous commentator on the text. Moreover, extant manuscripts of the Amṛtataraṅgiṇī are mostly found in Kerala, as is its intellectual legacy. It influences the Kṛṣnapadī by Rāghavānanda, a Śaiva author of several commentaries on stotras and other devotional texts.
